The section continues to hold 2 good tournaments a year in centrally located Chesterfield who have proved to be good hosts to us. We have a cross-section of players including women & men, experienced & new. The Nationals & District tournaments are suitable for competent volleyball sides, playing at “local league” level. We are always looking at gaining more entries so if you are interested please contact me to discuss further. We are able to take individual players who we combine into our competing teams so you do not need a whole team to come along & enjoy playing. The section is very friendly with a number of players who thought they would try it and found themselves coming back year after year! There are also a number of us who have been playing for 30 odd years!! The tournaments are as much about the social side as competing on court.
Our Section has UK Men, Women & Mixed teams who compete at the Crown Services tournament against Royal Navy, RAF, Army, Police and Prison Service in May every year. As you can see above we are hosting this year’s event. Our Mens & Women’s teams have come 3rd in the tournament with our Mixed team winning!
Results
National Volleyball Finals 2012. Held on 20/21 October 2012 at Queens Park Sports Centre, Chesterfield. Due to reduced player numbers the tournament was reduced to 3 sides, North, Midlands & South who played a double round-robin format. By condensing the teams it meant the competition was very close. Winners South (won 3 lost 1) and Runners Up North (won 2 lost 2). Midlands gained the wooden spoon (won 1 lost 3).
