Chris Kirby Chair
Chris is Chief Fire Officer / Chief Executive of South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. Chris joined the fire and rescue service as a firefighter in 1998. He worked for 22 years in West Yorkshire before moving to South Yorkshire in 2020. Chris was appointed CFO in May 2022 and has worked in many roles across Service Delivery, Projects, CRMP, People, Operational Policy and Collaboration. He is a member of the National Fire Chief’s Council with specific roles on the Children and Young People Executive. He also co-Chairs the South Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum. Chris enjoys all sports. He still plays football and enjoys cycling, open water swimming and walking. Chris played Waterpolo and represented England and Great Britain senior men competing in the Commonwealth Water Polo competition in Manchester in 2002. He believes that sport and leisure activities contribute towards a healthy body and mind. |

Paul Drakes Treasurer
Paul served in Hertfordshire for 33 years and has been in involved with fire service sport locally, regionally and nationally for most of that time. He is presently the Squash section treasurer and represents Herts at ‘National Assembly’. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Award by the then, Fire Service Sports and Athletic Association in December 2006. Paul continues to play squash. Joined Southampton Airport Fire & Rescue Service in 2002. Has run the website and social media for FireSportUK since 2010. Main sport interests are football and badminton. [email protected] |
