Table Tennis Championships 2025
St.Neots TTC, Cambridgeshire Sat 7th June
Players travelled from all over the UK to compete in Singles, Doubles, Veterans, Consolation & Newcomers Events.
Open Singles :
Following results from the Group stages & 1/4 Finals, the top two seeds found themselves unexpectedly meeting in the first Semi Final.
After a tense battle Steve Chu (2) managed to beat Charlie Matthew (1) 3-2 to progress to the Final.
In the second Semi, last years triple winner Anthont Tindall showed his class with a comfortable 3-0 win over Ben Mensah.
Tindall then took on Chu in a very close Final & managed to record a fine 3-2 win to retain his title.
Doubles :
In the Final, Chu was partnered up with Staffordshires Tim Chan & got there names on the Trophy after a 3-1 victory over the luckless Matthew and his partner newcomer Aydin Mehmet.
Veterans :
After disappointments in the days earlier events, Scotlands Matthew was not to be outdone in the Vets Final & upped his game considerably whilst taking on Open Champ Tindall.
With his attacking style, this time he came out a very decisive 3-0 winner.
Consolation :
It was battle of the 'Garys' in this event.
A see-saw match went to a deciding 5th game. Shropshires Thompson used his steady play wisely, which finally got him over the line 3-2 against the very valiant Londoner Hobbs.
Newcomers :
Aydin Mehmet made it a day to remember in his second Final of the day beating Phil Vassiliou 3-0
Once again a great days competition 🏓
Thank you to all members of the section who took part 🍻
And special thanks to St.Neots TTC for being fantastic hosts 👍
